History

Strelley Hall is situated about 4 miles from Nottingham it was originally built as a castle in 1200AD but over the years especially in the early and late 18th century and the 19th century it has been modified and is now a Hall.

The history of Strelley hall goes all the way back to Saxon times, proof of this is from an archaeology dig in 2006 that found a lot of mansonery items dated between 1250 and 1350.

Strelley Hall is now used for weddings and celebrations or conferences and other functions but back in the day it was home for the Strelley family until Nicholas Strelley lost the house while gambling to a lawyer called Ralph Edge in 1678 and it remained in the Edge family until the last heir to the house, Emily Mary Edge sadly passed away in in 1978.

Still to this day the hall has some of its original magnificent features especially in the castle room and the panelled room.

Reported Activity

It’s said that after Nicholas Strelley lost the house he would visit the house at night and this sent the servant’s crazy and lose their mind and it’s these servants who are said to haunt the hall.

(personal experience) – Myself and someone else heard whistling on several occasions at the same time and we was the only 2 who could hear it.

I’ve got a recording of a girl talking (faintly). Heard footsteps and banging.

Interaction with trigger objects in the gentleman’s room.

Saw a face 2 inches away from mine in the cellar, it was not a pleasant thing to experience it was evil looking and smirking at me.
